WORKSHOPS AND PROGRAMS

Growth and Skills

The following is a description of programs offered:

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an in-depth eight week course in meditative awareness designed to help you enter into a new relationship with the present moment.  MBSR offers powerful training in non-judgmental awareness that enables you to respond to life’s stressors with greater clarity, stability and understanding, rather than reacting in unhealthy ways.  Pioneered by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D. at the UMass Medical Center and featured on the Bill Moyers’ PBS documentary, “Healing and the Mind,” MBSR is now taught at over 200 medical centers world-wide. It is considered one of the most reliable ways to learn how to use mindfulness and meditation to treat many stress related conditions including anxiety, chronic pain, headaches, high blood pressure, sleep disturbances and gastrointestinal problems.

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) is designed to help people who suffer repeated bouts of depression and chronic unhappiness. It combines the ideas of cognitive therapy with meditative practices and attitudes based on the cultivation of mindfulness. The heart of this work lies in becoming acquainted with the modes of mind that often characterize mood disorders while simultaneously learning to develop a new relationship to them. MBCT was developed by Zindel Segal, Mark Williams and John Teasdale, based on Jon Kabat-Zinn’s Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program.

Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC)

Mindful Self-Compassion™ (MSC) is an empirically-supported 8-week course designed to cultivate the skill of self-compassion.  The course is a mixture of meditations, practices, talks, discussions, group and individual exercises, and homework.  Developed by Kristin Neff, PhD and Christopher Germer, PhD, Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) combines the skills of mindfulness and self-compassion to enhance our capacity for emotional wellbeing.

The Daring Way™ and Rising Strong™

The Daring Way™ and Rising Strong™  are highly experiential methodologies based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown. The methods were developed to help men, women, and adolescents learn how to show up, be seen, and live braver lives. They can be facilitated in clinical, educational, and professional settings and are suitable for work with individuals, couples, families, work teams, and organizational leaders.

About The Daring Way™
During the process, we explore topics such as vulnerability, courage, shame, and worthiness. We examine the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that are holding us back and we identify the new choices and practices that will move us toward more authentic and wholehearted living. The primary focus is on developing shame resilience skills and developing daily practices that transform the way we live, love, parent and lead.

About Rising Strong™
The physics of vulnerability is simple.  If we are brave enough, often enough, we will fail.  The Rising Strong™ workshop is about what it takes to get back up and how owning our stories of struggle gives us the power to write a daring new ending.  Struggle can be our greatest call to courage and the clearest path to a wholehearted life.
